UUs Helping People

Subcommittee Mission
The UU Helping People Subcommittee advocates for the rights of those who are homeless in South Pinellas County. Our members continue to be on the front line of homeless issues with outreach, political action, and support to local agencies.
We are always looking for volunteers. Whether you want to donate your money or your time we would love to hear from you. Please contact Reggie Craig, the chair of our subcommittee, at homeless@uustpete.org, or call the church office, tel: (727) 898-3294
Outreach
Over the past years, we have offered panel discussions and films featuring local and national advocates for the rights of homeless people. Working closely with other faith based groups and Celebrate Outreach we helped present a national conference on ways of preventing homelessness. We serve a meal every Friday night, to those who are hungry, in our playground. We continue to expand our outreach and political participation with other faith based groups in downtown St. Petersburg.
Advocacy
We hold a pancake breakfast to raise funds for our committee. There is a suggested $4 donation – please see the church calendar for the next upcoming breakfast!
