“Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore, Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”

—Emma Lazarus’ poem “The New Colossus”, Statue of Liberty

For farmworker issues, we support the campaigns of the successful Coalition of Immokalee Workers (CIW) — by advocating for fair wages, safe working conditions and

encouraging businesses to participate in their Fair Food Agreement.

We also keep current on legislation that impacts immigrants here in Florida as well as follow the treatment of refugee families and unaccompanied children from Central America who are housed in federal detention centers. Our work includes educating ourselves about the issues, gathering signatures for related petitions and organizing email/phone campaigns regarding proposed legislation.

As an active member of the Pinellas Coalition for Immigration Justice UU St Pete partners in organizing rallies and vigils as well as correspondence to and meetings with elected officials.

guest at your table

For the past two years the annual Guest at Your Table campaign recognized brave “Guests” who are supporting immigrants within Central America and Mexico and along the US border with Mexico. This has been an opportunity to educate our members about complex immigration issues, dispel myths with facts and engage them in action.
