Support Immokalee Farmworker Who Was Killed by Collier County Sheriff’s Deputy

*Submitted by Karen Coale, Social Justice Committee*

In the early hours of September 17th Nicolas Morales was shot and killed by a Collier County Sheriff’s Deputy. The Coalition of Immokalee Workers has been asking for an explanation as to what transpired including the cam videos but have not had cooperation from the Sheriff’s Department.

On Monday my contact in Immokalee requested our support by calling the Collier County Sheriff’s Office, to demand transparency from their office about the series of events that led to Nicolas’ shooting.

Number to call: Collier County Sheriff Kevin Rambosk, 239-252-0555

Refer to the CIW’s webpost which describes the current state of the case and possible points to make while on the phone.

UU St Pete has worked with the Coalition of Immokalee Workers for the last 10 years — supporting their successful campaigns for Fair Food negotiations with purchasers of tomatoes, including McDonalds, Taco Bell, Burger King, Whole Foods, Trader Joes and many more. They have participated in several of our services and we have shared meals as well as marched with them in St Pete, Lakeland and Miami. They are our friends — please support them now. Thank you!
