Per Dave Coale: "This Sunday's speaker will be my Buddhist teacher, Fred Eppsteiner. He is the founder of the Florida Community of Mindfulness. He is a teacher who has received Dharma (teaching) Transmission from Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh. His professional experience as a psychotherapist allows him to readily understand the psychological implications and applications of Buddhist meditation and teachings and to share his insights with others. Through the Florida Community of Mindfulness Fred’s teachings are open to all practitioners and focus on mindful living, self-awareness, compassion in relationships, and mind-body awareness through connecting with our breathing."

Sunday, May 2, 2010: "Spring Musical: WYUU"
Time: 11:00am
Speaker: Jim Culver

UU St. Pete once again presents to the other half of the congregation (kidding!) an original musical with singing, acting and lots of jokes! Featuring a cast of 45 singers and actors, WYUU portrays an old-time radio station (think 1930s) in need of creating new acts to boost attendance at a local UU church.

Our members transform themselves into comedians George Burns & Gracie Allen, Abbott & Costello, Groucho Marx, and Bob Hope. Our Adult Choir members become musicians such as Bing Crosby and Dorothy Lamour. Our RE youth and children add to the fun with a scene from the Wizard of UUz featuring the mUUnchkins and Glinda, the Good Witch of the West... Central Cluster.

We present serial shows from those thrilling days of yesteryear as we listen to Gene Autry (the singing cowboy UU minister) and the adventures of UUperman. The radio station also features popcorn vendors, ushers, a cue card holder, a station manager, a network owner, two switchboard operators and a janitor who turns out to be the star of the show.
