REFLECTIONS ON LOYALTY AND THE PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS: What Faith Can Make It Real?

Speaker: Rev. Jack Donovan

On this Independence Day Sunday, I think it is proper to study independence, though it's a very big topic. Narrowing it down, it seems to me that one key ingredient of freedom is having a mind and heart of your own in good relationship with all the minds and hearts of earthkind.  So this morning, this will be where we conclude our year-long Sunday Service theme on our Beliefs - our understandings of life, of how to live it, and of what authority we are loyal to.

The sources we explored included our own direct experience, the words and deeds of others, and the wisdom traditions of the world - religious, philosophical, mythic, and scientific.  The final source and resource we have is our own personal reflections, our own creative synthesis of all we've gleaned from life and learning.

May our reflections add a new dimension to the life and liberty we need to happily pursue happiness.
