Job Posting: Part-Time Religious Education Coordinator

The Unitarian Universalist Church of St. Petersburg is seeking a Part-Time Religious Education (RE) Coordinator to facilitate our religious education program for children and youth (ages 2-17).

Position Overview

The RE Coordinator is responsible for planning and implementing a growing religious education program for children and youth at the Unitarian Universalist St Petersburg Church (UUSP). The RE Coordinator will find tangible ways to translate the church’s values and goals into an engaging RE program.

The RE coordinator leads administrative and instructional support for the UUSP RE program. The RE program focuses primarily on Sunday morning classes and child care. The program is also involved in:

  • multi-generational services
  • summer camps
  • social justice initiatives
  • special events

The RE Coordinator guides RE instructors, child care workers, and volunteers. The Coordinator reports to the minister and collaborates with the Religious Education Committee.

Hours and Pay

15-20 hours per week during the church year, including Sundays from 10 am – 1 pm. Hours may vary during summer (June – August). Pay rate is $17.25/hour - $19.50/hr, depending on Religious Education Credentialing through the UUA (https://www.uua.org/careers/re/credentialing).

Required Skills

The successful applicant must be self-motivated; highly organized; have an understanding of Unitarian Universalist religious education; have strong written and oral communication skills; demonstrate an ability to work effectively with children/youth, instructors, church leadership, and parents; and have experience in a field related to education and/or administration.
