RE Corner

Religious Education: 

For information about our Religious Education, families are invited to visit the welcome table in the entry to the sanctuary.

Nursery care is provided in Conway Hall from 10:15-noon for infants through preschool by Laura Beard and a volunteer assistant.

Families begin in worship at 10:30 then school age children and youth will go to their groups after Time for All ages. Each week the children will have stories and activities to strengthen our UU identity. Children will be accompanied to their parents in coffee hour at 11:45. Any questions? Contact

Job Posting: Part-Time Religious Education Coordinator

The Unitarian Universalist Church of St. Petersburg is seeking a Part-Time Religious Education (RE) Coordinator to facilitate our religious education program for children and youth (ages 2-17).

Position Overview

The UUSP RE Coordinator is the staff person responsible for planning and directing the religious education program for children and youth at the Unitarian Universalist St Petersburg Church (UUSP). The RE program includes weekly classes during Sunday services, child care during service and various church activities, summer camp programs, social justice initiatives, and other special events.

The RE Coordinator, in collaboration with the UUSP RE Committee, will be responsible for choosing curricula from the range of Unitarian Universalist Association curriculum offerings.  The RE Coordinator is also responsible for training and supervising the classroom teachers in the use of curricula and teaching practices and in classroom safety so as to to translate the values and goals of the UUSP church into a vibrant and engaging RE program.

The RE Coordinator’s responsibilities will also include all administrative duties for the RE program and some outreach and promotion of the program, which could include but not be limited to effectively using social media.
The RE coordinator provides and/or coordinates all administrative and instructional support for the UUSP RE Program.

Reporting Structure

The RE Coordinator reports to the minister and collaborates with the Religious Education Committee.

Hours and Pay

15 hours per week during the church year, including Sundays from 10 am – 1 pm, with one Sunday a quarter off.  Hours vary during summer (June – August). Pay rate begins at $17.25/hour (based upon experience). 

Required Skills

The successful applicant must have an understanding of Unitarian Universalist religious education; have experience in a field related to education and/or administration; must be self-motivated; highly organized; have strong written and oral communication skills; ability to use social media; and demonstrate an ability to work effectively with children/youth, instructors, church leadership, and parents.
