Job Posting: Part-Time Religious Education Coordinator

The Unitarian Universalist Church of St. Petersburg is seeking a Part-Time Religious Education (RE) Coordinator to facilitate our religious education program for children and youth (through age 17).

Position Overview

The RE coordinator provides and/or coordinates administrative and instructional support for the UUSP RE Program. The RE Coordinator will find tangible ways to translate the values and goals of the UUSP church into a vibrant and engaging RE program for children and youth.

The RE program includes weekly classes during Sunday services, child care during services and other church activities, summer camp programs, social justice initiatives, and other special events.

Responsibilities include:

  • Working with the minister and RE Committee on program visioning and planning.
  • Researching Unitarian Universalist RE curricula.
  • Scheduling RE classes.
  • Preparing lesson plans, materials, and handouts.
  • Guiding and supporting instructors.
  • Scheduling child care workers.
  • Recruiting and training volunteers.
  • Teaching classes as needed.
  • Developing and implementing policies and procedures.
  • Serving as a consistent representative of our RE program.

Some tasks may be delegated to or completed in cooperation with the RE Committee, RE volunteers, and RE staff.

Reporting Structure: The RE Coordinator reports to the minister and collaborates with the RE Committee.

Hours: 15 hours per week for 48 weeks/year, including Sundays 9 am - 1 pm. Other times flexible.

Pay Rate: $17.25/hour.

The successful applicant must be highly organized; have an understanding of Unitarian Universalist religious education; have strong written and oral communication skills; demonstrate an ability to work effectively with instructors, church leadership, children, and parents; and have experience in a field related to education and/or administration.
