Event Space & Weddings on Mirror Lake

The cornerstone of the historic Unitarian Universalist Church of St. Petersburg was laid in 1929, and the Mediterranean Revival building was dedicated in 1930. The bell tower and façade make the church one of Mirror Lake’s most recognizable landmarks and greet wedding and event guests as they arrive, setting the stage for a special occasion to be remembered.

In the sanctuary, upholstered pews seat up to 250 guests. On each side of the historic space, sunlight streams through tall arched windows that retain the original 1929 glass panes. The beautiful Juliet balcony offers the opportunity for a unique moment during your ceremony for a special reading or announcement. The beautiful tone of the Allen organ is enriched by the sanctuary’s stunning acoustics. Overhead, the exposed king post trusses, accented with wrought iron chandeliers, offer a dramatic and elegant experience for your special day.

UU St. Pete has rooms of various sizes and configurations available for rent by organizations and private individuals. From the sanctuary to office space available for classes, meetings, and more, our UU is central to Downtown St. Pete, with a view of the beautiful Mirror Lake. Our historic building is a warm, inviting place to hold meetings, conferences, seminars, weddings, wedding vow renewals, memorials, and other events. It is wheelchair accessible, hearing-impaired-accessible, and climate-controlled.

Our church takes an active role in extending community relations. As such, we continue to invite an array of organizations to share in our buildings. As a welcoming community, we encourage all members of the LGBTQIA+ community to consider our spaces. We welcome people of all faith backgrounds as well, including those who are non-religious, humanist, pagan, or atheist.

We host in rooms of various sizes and configurations for:

Rental Spaces

The Sanctuary

Our sanctuary, with a seating capacity of 250, is ideal for wedding rentals, large meetings, and concerts. Its carpeted floor, beamed vaulted ceiling, Juliet balcony, and spectacular tapestries add an aura of warmth to any event. It also features a balcony/choir loft offering additional seating. A Baldwin concert grand piano is available and there is also an Allen 3 Manual organ in the balcony. Note: Our Music Director can be consulted in advance.

There are two pulpits–one on each side of the chancel. The quality sound system will accommodate any audio reinforcement needed. Various lighting options are also available.

Gilmour Hall

Our social hall was built in 1929 and is adjacent to the sanctuary. The historic space is ideal for meetings, wedding receptions, banquets, and more with a seating capacity of up to 100. With its massive fireplace and elegant chandeliers, it is also ideal for parties and dances. Like the sanctuary, the room has a high, vaulted ceiling. The Hall overlooks the loggia in front of the church with a view of Mirror Lake. The hall features a baby grand piano and public address–ideal for for receptions, entertainment, and recitals. Lighting options provide a variety of choices to set just the right mood for your event.

On the side of the hall facing Mirror Lake, there are French doors looking onto the loggia–a charming outdoor space that can be used for additional reception space and cocktail hour. On the opposite side of the hall, the enclosed courtyard offers additional outdoor space for seating and reception space. Gilmour Hall is also conveniently adjacent to the church’s kitchen. Chairs and tables are available for use.

Conway Hall

Host a casual meeting, event, training session, or mark an important work milestone. A variety of rooms and sizes are available. Rooms feature modular partitions, which provide flexible spaces and privacy. An enclosed courtyard is also available. A second level offers more meeting rooms (use of stairs required)–ideal for long-term office or studio space.

Kitchen

Prepare your dream meal in our renovated professional kitchen! Our state-of-the-art kitchen is adjacent to both Conway Hall and Gilmour Hall and is available for rent when renting either of these spaces. We also invite licensed caterers to rent the kitchen for ongoing use. The range has two large ovens with 10 burners. The kitchen features a dishwasher, 3-compartment sink, two handwashing stations, generous food-prep areas, and commercial-grade urns for coffee, tea, etc.

Your day will be a special one that you’re certain to remember. Our beautiful front lawn that overlooks Mirror Lake is available as part of your rental.
