Please join us at the next Keep St Pete Lit Salon in Gilmour Hall to learn more about the reality of immigrants on our southern border, and participate in a discussion about language, culture, and actions needed.

Language at the Border with Ana Maria Vasquez: immigrant activist, storyteller and painter

 March 28, 2019 - 7:00-8:30pm

Mural by French photographer JR

With a degree in Anthropology from Montpellier, France; and dedicated to Border Patrol Victims Network; Love Has No Borders; and Bridges Across Borders; Ana Maria will bring us:

  • eye-witnessed accounts of living on the border
  • new language that tells us about emerging cultures and realities
  • a short text by Panamanian author Jorge Ventocilla about the annual relay race from Alaska to Chile in celebration of Abya Yala

Share in a discussion about how we can support positive action by the way we visualize and talk about our geographical and cultural realities.

A $10 donation goes to support Ana Maria and her immigration activist work.

If you would like to participate in additional group action, please contact the UU Church committee on Farmer and Immigrant Families.

With questions please contact Sabrina Dalla Valle at: winter.night.18@gmail.com or Paul Burnore at plburnore@gmail.com.
